Nightmares are dreams that are scary or disturbing. They usually make you feel one emotion only: FEAR; fear while sleep.

While sleeping, our thoughts get organized. We’ve 10.000 thoughts during the day therefore these get rearranged during the night. So what we’re dreaming are basically images that we’re actually thinking during the day.

Nightmares then are usually stories that we’ve actually being thinking of as our brain can’t create new stories. This is the reason of why those who suffer from anxiety, or sadness are the ones who suffer from more nightmares. Even if you’ve been watching a scary movie last night, there are chances you’re having a nightmare the following days related to that movie being you the main character or a beloved one.

In Chinese Medicine, nightmares consist of upsetting dreams during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. The Heart, Liver, and Gall Bladder are organ systems in which Stagnation or Stasis of the Qi and Blood are associated with nightmares.

When you sleep, Blood is stored inside your Liver. As more restless, less blood because it’s used when you’re awake. As such you get more deficient so chances of nightmares are more likely to happen.

Therefore nightmares are easily treatable with Chinese Herbal Medicine.
